If you're a Detroit Lions fan, you still likely talk about the legacy of Barry Sanders' 10-year career.

Sanders established a name for himself on the Oklahoma State Cowboys, creating a reputation for his running skills and rushing touchdowns. Among those distinctions, he rushed 2,628 yards and scored 37 touchdowns over 11 games during his junior year - with a Heisman Trophy and All-American designation following now long after.

Not surprisingly, Sanders was drafted the following year by the NFL. The streak that started during his college years continued with an NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award and an NFL Offensive Player of the Year Award roughly five years later and again in 1997. By the time he retired in 1999, he edged close to - but didn't quite surpass - the NFL's rushing record, held at the time by Walter Payton.

But while some think he left the game too soon, Sanders continues to rank fourth for his career rushing yards (15,269), gets remembered for Detroit's first postseason win since 1958 and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2004.
